Things to do This Valentine’s Day in Puerto Rico

Valentine's Day Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico celebrates Valentine’s Day just like the U.S. and many other countries. January 14th is a day for romance and this beautiful island is the perfect place to be. Whether you are planning a Puerto Rico getaway, or just looking for ideas, we have the top things to do this Valentine’s Day in Puerto Rico from San Juan to Vieques.

Coffee Lovers

Visit the Maricao Coffee Festival January 13th to February 15th. This annual festival takes place every year to celebrate the end of the harvest. Take a picturesque drive to Maricao and enjoy delicious food, music, local artisans and incredible coffee.

Music and Dancing Lovers

The Arroyano Carnival takes place in Arroyo February 14th to February 16th. There will be live music every night, food kiosks and local artisans.
Nightlife: Are you in the mood for some great live music and dancing? Check out the infamous and gritty Nuyorican Café in Old San Juan. For something a little more upscale, try rooftop dancing at Mist at the San Juan Water Beach Club Hotel in Isla Verde. For live music in a pub-style setting near Condado, The Plan B attracts a large local crowd.

Bargain Lovers

February 14th to February 16th—the San Juan National Historic Sites, El Morro and Fort San Cristóbal in Old San Juan are offering Free Admission. Go sightseeing with your Valentine for free and then visit one of the great restaurants in Old San Juan.

Xtreme Sport Lovers

For a little excitement on Valentine’s Day, do something really on edge, and get romantic at the annual Freefall Festival February 11th through the 15th.

Outdoor Lovers

There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in Puerto Rico this Valentine’s Day. Here are our top picks:

Hiking El Yunque: If you love being surrounded by lush green rainforest and enjoy spectacular views, take a hike to the top of El Yunque Rainforest. This is a four hour hike to the top, but there are equally beautiful (though more crowded) hikes that go to the waterfalls of El Yunque and only take 2 hours.

Bioluminescent Bay Tours: Check out one of Puerto Rico’s bioluminescent bays. Tours run in the evening hours in Fajardo, Laguna Grande and Vieques.

Snorkeling and Sailing: Puerto Rico has some great spots to go snorkeling and you will find tour operators throughout the island. Some of the best beaches to go snorkeling include Culebra, Mona Island, Caja de Muertos, La Paguera and Fajardo. You can also find catamarans and private sailboats to take you on a romantic sunset trip including champagne while you enjoy the ocean breeze.

Food Lovers

Puerto Rico boasts some incredibly good restaurants and you will find Valentine’s Day menus throughout the island. Some of our top picks include Pamela’s (beachfront dining), the newly-opened 1919 in Condado, La Perla in Renaissance La Concha Hotel, Pikayo, and Marmalade.

Luxury Lovers

Spend the day shopping and then get pampered with a private massage on the beach and romantic beachfront dining. Some of Puerto Rico’s best spas include The Golden Door Spa at the El Conquistador Resort, The Ritz-Carlton in San Juan and the W hotel in Vieques. If you really want to go all out, charter a private yacht with dinner; massage and spectacular view included.
